Tarot reading

Think of your question, shuffle and draw: one card, three (past, present and future), five, the Celtic Cross or a full reading by topic.

Cards

Deck

A reversed card (upside down) shows the harder side of its message. About 1 in 3 cards comes out reversed, as when a third of the deck is turned before shuffling.

How to do a reading

Think calmly about your question (you can write it, it is optional), choose No topic and how many cards (1, 3, 5 or 10), and press Shuffle & draw. The deck is shuffled, the cards are dealt face down and turned over one by one. Below each card you will see what it means in that position.

How many cards

One card is a quick answer or a theme for your day. Three cards tell a short story: the first is the past (where this comes from), the second is the present (what is happening now) and the third is the future (where it is heading if nothing changes). Five cards add more detail: now, what holds you back, what you leave behind, what is coming and the advice. Ten cards are the Celtic Cross, the most complete classic spread: your situation, the challenge, the root, the recent past, what you aim for, the near future, you, your surroundings, hopes and fears, and the outcome.

Readings by topic

Choose By topic, pick a topic (Love, Work, Money, Family, Friendship or For you) and then a question about it: Will they come back?, How do I get over the breakup?, Is there someone else?, Will I grow in my job?, Will I get out of debt?, Will things get better with a relative?, Is this a true friendship?, a message for today and more. Each topic reads the cards in its own way: in love they speak about that person, in family and friendship about that person without romance, in work and money about your job and your money. The deck is shuffled and the cards jump out in small batches; each one has its own place in the story (what they feel, what weighs on them, what is coming…). At the end we look at the bottom card of the deck and what all the cards say together. The reading talks about "this person" in a general way so it can fit your story. You can also choose how many cards come out: 1 (the straight answer), 3, 5, 7 (the full reading) or 10.

Our own deck of 78 cards

We drew every card ourselves, in a storybook style with lilac and melon colors, so you will not find them anywhere else. The 22 Major Arcana, from The Fool (0) to The World (XXI), speak about the big themes of life. The 56 Minor Arcana speak about everyday life and come in four suits: wands (energy and projects), cups (feelings and relationships), swords (thoughts and conflicts) and pentacles (money, work and the body). Each suit goes from the Ace to the Ten, plus the Page, Knight, Queen and King. You can read with the full deck or only with the Major Arcana.

Reversed cards

Turn on reversed cards if you want some cards to come out upside down. A reversed card does not mean something bad: it usually points to the same theme, but blocked, delayed or turned inward. In real readings it is common to turn about a third of the deck before shuffling, so here about 1 in 3 cards comes out reversed.

Just for fun and reflection

The cards are drawn at random with your browser's cryptographic generator: the tarot does not predict the future. Use it to think about a situation from a new angle, as a journal prompt, or for a fun night with friends. It is not a substitute for professional advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is the tarot reading random?

Yes. The cards are shuffled with your browser's cryptographic random generator before the animation starts, and the same card never comes out twice in one reading.

Does the Death card mean someone will die?

No. In tarot, Death is about endings and change: one stage closes so a new one can begin.

What is the difference between the 10 of swords and Death?

Death is one of the 22 Major Arcana, which speak about big turning points. The 10 of swords is a Minor Arcana card, about a specific situation in everyday life. With the full deck, both kinds can come up in the same reading.

Is my question saved?

No. Your question stays on your screen; it is never sent anywhere.

Can I listen to the reading?

Yes. When the reading ends, press Listen to the reading and your device reads it out loud with its own voice. The voice depends on your phone or computer, and nothing is sent anywhere.
