List randomizer

Paste a list and shuffle it. Every item moves to its new place.

Random order

    How to shuffle a list

Paste or type your list, one item per line, and press Shuffle. The random order appears on the right, and every item slides from where it was to its new position, so you can see how much the list changed. Press Shuffle again as many times as you like.

    A truly random order

The list is shuffled with the Fisher–Yates algorithm using your browser's cryptographic random generator. Every possible order has exactly the same chance, which is not true of many "quick" shuffles.

    Ideas

Presentation order in class, speaking order in a meeting, a random reading list, the order of songs or tasks, seating plans, or turns for a game.

    Frequently asked questions

How long can the list be?

Up to 2,000 items. Very long lists skip the sliding animation so it stays fast.

    Are empty lines removed?

Yes. Blank lines are ignored, and each item keeps its exact text.
