Think of a question that can be answered with yes or no, write it if you want, and press Shake the ball (or tap the ball itself). The ball shakes, turns, and an answer floats up in the window.
The 20 answers
Like the classic fortune-telling toy, there are 20 possible answers: 10 that lean yes, 5 that are unsure and 5 that lean no. Every answer has the same 1 in 20 chance, picked with your browser's cryptographic random generator. Our answers are written by us, in English and Spanish.
Just for fun
The ball does not know the future. Use it for party games, to break a tie, or to laugh about big questions. For a plain 50/50 answer, try the yes or no tool.
Frequently asked questions
Are the magic 8 ball answers random?
Yes. Each of the 20 answers has exactly the same chance, and it is chosen before the ball starts shaking.
Is it more likely to say yes?
Half of the answers lean yes, a quarter are unsure and a quarter lean no, so "yes-ish" comes up about half the time.
